WHY MALTA
MALTA BUSINESS PROFILE
Over the past years, Malta has been gaining recognition as an international financial services centre. Malta’s EU membership in 2004 and the Euro adoption in 2008 have contributed further to positioning Malta as one of Europe’s most dynamic and fastest growing finance centres.
There are various reasons to consider investment in Malta, including:
- The location in the centre of the Mediterranean;
- Highly skilled multi-lingual work force;
- A stable political and economical climate;
- Reasonable cost of living and labour costs;
- Jurisdiction with a strong international tax treaty network, which can provide competitive tax advantages;
- Competitive, high quality and well regulated finance jurisdiction;
- A jurisdiction that ensures an internationally accepted standard of regulation at a reasonable cost.
The MALTA FINANCIAL SERVICES AUTHORITY
The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is the single regulator for financial services in Malta. Creating the MFSA as a single regulator was a structured part of Malta’s long term strategy to create a mainstream finance centre in the country. This enabled finance companies to benefit from a reduction in bureaucracy, streamlined procedures, lower fees and compliance costs and a more consistent implementation of standards.
